Apple's smart home roadmap is taking shape: after years of waiting, Cupertino is preparing a hardware offensive to integrate Siri AI into its domestic devices. The bottleneck that previously held back new releases has been resolved, paving the way for a series of products ranging from speakers to tabletop robots.

Hardware arriving in Fall 2026

HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K are expected to debut by the end of the year. The former will move from the S5 chip to a new S9, with potential audio improvements and a new N1 wireless module. The Apple TV 4K, on the other hand, will receive the A17 Pro chip, an update that will allow local execution of some Apple Intelligence features. Current prices, $129 and $199 respectively, are expected to remain stable.

The display hub and the tabletop robot

Later on, between October 2026 and early 2027, Apple's first smart home hub is expected. Equipped with a 7-inch square display and the A18 chip, it will support FaceTime calls and smart home device management through a new internal operating system called homeOS. The long-term vision also includes an advanced version of this hub, described as a tabletop robot with a robotic arm and a 9-inch display.

Security accessories and regulatory context

Apple is also preparing to launch its own line of smart home accessories, including a security camera and an intelligent doorbell. However, the adoption of Siri AI in Europe remains uncertain due to the standoff with Brussels over the Digital Markets Act, as highlighted by recent analyses. The company aims to close the loop on its home ecosystem, but final timing will also depend on the outcome of regulatory negotiations.
