Meta has officially transitioned from the experimental phase of its agentic AI to a full consumer rollout with the launch of Muse, a personal AI agent designed to execute complex tasks autonomously across third-party applications and websites. While previous iterations like Muse Spark 1.1 introduced proactive workflow management, the full version of Muse moves beyond simple assistance to actual execution: it can open browsers, fill out forms, negotiate on behalf of the user, and handle payments via Link by Stripe.
The Muse Secure VM Architecture
To address the inherent security risks of granting an AI access to passwords and financial credentials, Meta has implemented a novel infrastructure called Muse Secure VM. This is a dedicated virtual machine—essentially an isolated Linux box—that houses both the agent and the user's data.
A critical safety layer is provided by a separate Sentinel agent that runs on the same VM but remains isolated at the system level. This architecture ensures that Muse itself does not have direct visibility into raw passwords or payment methods, mitigating the risk of unauthorized data exposure—a concern that reportedly surfaced during internal testing according to Reuters.
Integration and Capabilities
Muse is designed for zero-learning-curve adoption, accessible via a dedicated app on iOS and Android, the web at muse.ai, or directly within WhatsApp. It connects to a wide array of services including Google Workspace, Spotify, OpenTable, and Apple Health.
The agent's capabilities range from low-risk tasks to "audacious" goals. For example, it can transform Instagram recipe reels into organized grocery lists and then proceed to compare prices and order the items. For high-risk actions, such as sending an email or completing a purchase, Muse is programmed to request user approval before proceeding.
Pricing and Availability
Initially launching in the US, Muse follows a freemium model. While basic functionality is free, Meta has introduced two subscription tiers for power users:
- Power: 20 dollars per month.
- Maximum: 100 dollars per month.
These plans provide increased usage limits for task hand-off. The agent is powered by the Muse Spark model, following the technical foundations established by Muse Spark 1.3, which previously demonstrated superior coding performance. Meta has also confirmed that Muse will soon be integrated into its AI glasses.
