Xiaomi has opened a limited, invite-only beta for Xiaomi MiMo Desktop, an AI agent application designed to shift the paradigm from simple chat interfaces to direct desktop task execution. The launch introduces two next-generation models: MiMo-X-Pro-Preview and MiMo-X-Flash-Preview.
Unlike previous iterations, the MiMo-X series is specifically optimized for professional workflows. The models are designed to handle complex reasoning, multi-agent collaboration, and large-scale coding projects. Beyond text, the system integrates deep multimodal capabilities, allowing it to read documents, spreadsheets, images, and videos directly from the desktop. It can automatically decompose complex tasks into smaller steps, invoke tools and browsers, and deliver editable outputs such as PPTs, webpages, or functional apps.
This move expands Xiaomi's AI ecosystem beyond the coding-centric focus of MiMo Code and the hardware-level optimization of the AI Cube, which provides the necessary bandwidth for large-scale local inference. The new desktop agent focuses on high-impact professional areas including web and interaction design, video editing, 3D and music generation, and direct computer control.
While the models are currently in preview—meaning capabilities may evolve across versions—the community is closely watching for a potential release of open weights, following the precedent set by MiMo-V2.5-Pro. Xiaomi has not yet disclosed specific parameters, context window lengths, or benchmark results for the MiMo-X series.
