The upcoming OnePlus 16 is shaping up to be the brand's most ambitious flagship, with new leaks confirming a significant hardware overhaul beyond its massive energy reserves. While previous reports already highlighted the 9,000mAh battery, the latest data from tipster Digital Chat Station and other sources reveals a sophisticated imaging system and a concrete launch window.
High-resolution imaging and performance
The device will reportedly feature a 200-megapixel main camera, marking a substantial leap in resolution. This is complemented by a 50-megapixel 3x periscope telephoto lens and a 50-megapixel ultrawide sensor, while the front is handled by a 50-megapixel autofocus selfie camera.
Under the hood, the OnePlus 16 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 (with some sources mentioning a Pro variant) and LPDDR6 RAM. To support high-performance gaming, the display is tipped to reach refresh rates of 165Hz in standard scenarios and up to 185Hz for supported titles, though some early leaks even suggested a BOE LTPO panel capable of 240Hz.
Battery technology and charging
The 9,000mAh capacity is made possible by Oppo's high-energy battery technology—specifically the Glacier Battery—which supports low-voltage discharge to maximize density without increasing bulk. Charging speeds are expected to reach 100W wired (with some reports citing 120W) and 50W wireless.
Launch window and software
The OnePlus 16 is expected to debut in China by early October, running Android 17 with ColorOS 17. Additional hardware features include an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, dual speakers, and IP68/IP69 rated protection against water and dust.
This aggressive specification push follows a trend of extreme endurance seen in other recent releases, such as the OnePlus Ace 7 and the Oppo A7 Pro, as the brand pushes the limits of mobile autonomy.
