Poco has unveiled the X8 Pro series, split into two models with different approaches: the Pro Max for maximum power and endurance, and the Pro for strong performance in a more compact body.
The Pro Max is the first X-series model with a flagship-class chip, the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s, a 3nm design with eight high-performance cores. The claimed AnTuTu score exceeds 3 million. According to GSMArena, it is essentially a tuned-up Dimensity 9400+ from last year. The liquid IceLoop cooling system, covering 5,800 mm², is said to reduce chip temperature by up to 3 degrees, while WildBoost optimisation manages frames to sustain 120 FPS gaming under heavy load.
The real difference, though, is the battery. The Pro Max packs an 8,500 mAh silicon-carbon cell, the largest in Poco's history, with 100 W fast charging and 27 W reverse charging. With the right adapter, the phone reaches 50% in 24 minutes. Poco claims it can last more than three days under moderate use.
The Pro focuses on compact dimensions. It has a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED display and the Dimensity 8500 Ultra, with an AnTuTu score of 2.3 million, which Poco presents as the most powerful compact phone in its category. It has a metal frame and customisable RGB lighting. According to the company, its GPU is 25% more powerful than the previous generation's, with an AnTuTu score 15.8% higher.
Both models have IP69K protection and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. The Pro Max adds a metal middle frame. Poco promises four generations of Android updates and six years of security patches. The Pro has a 50 MP main camera with optical stabilisation, an 8 MP ultra-wide and a 20 MP selfie camera.
On pricing, the Big Billion Days campaign brings the Pro Max from 48,999 rupees (about $560) down to 42,999 rupees (about $490), while the Pro drops from 39,999 rupees (about $455) to 33,999 rupees (about $390). Globally, according to GSMArena, the Pro starts at $330 and the Pro Max at $470 for the 12 GB RAM configuration, with early-bird prices for the Pro.
