RayNeo has launched the Air 4 Pro, AR glasses that the company says are the first in the world with an HDR10 display. Connected to a phone, computer or console, they project a 201-inch virtual screen in front of your eyes, and on Amazon they cost $299.
At the heart of the product is a 0.6-inch micro-OLED panel with 1080p resolution, a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and a claimed brightness of 1,200 nits. RayNeo claims 98% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut and a contrast ratio of 200,000:1, figures that Wccftech reports as company claims still to be verified. The Vision 4000 processor, developed with Pixelworks, applies real-time AI upscaling from SDR to HDR, making even content not made for HDR, such as TikTok videos, look more vivid.
The glasses also support native 3D content and can convert 2D video to 3D through the RayNeo Air Series app. Audio comes from four speakers tuned with Bang & Olufsen, with 360-degree spatial sound and a "whisper" mode for listening without disturbing people nearby.
Compatibility is the key strength. The USB-C port with DisplayPort output connects to many iPhones, Android phones, tablets, Macs, Windows PCs and handhelds such as the Steam Deck. With RayNeo's HDMI adapter they also work with the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation.
With no battery of their own, the glasses draw power from the connected device. The weight is stated at about 76 grams, a figure Wccftech reports as supplied by the company. For eye strain, the OptiCare protection offers 3840 Hz dimming, TÜV SÜD certification for low blue light and flicker-free viewing; those who need corrective lenses can request prescription inserts through partner Lensology.
The Air 4 Pro is the latest step in a range RayNeo has expanded in recent months. After the launch of the camera-free iO line and the GT series, the Chinese company is targeting portable entertainment, where the GT Max reaches a virtual screen of up to 307 inches.
