Samsung has brought its Certified Re-Newed smartphones to Amazon.com for the first time. These are refurbished phones certified by the manufacturer, with a new battery, official parts and a one-year limited warranty. The starting price is $489, excluding taxes and fees, a channel wider than Samsung's own website.

The launch catalogue counts 14 configurations across the Galaxy S24 FE, S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra. Every model is unlocked and comes in a single colour, with one or two storage options. The Galaxy S24 FE with 128 or 256 GB is the cheapest at $489, followed by the Galaxy S24 at $519 and the Galaxy S25 at $599. The Galaxy S25 Ultra with 256 GB is the most expensive listing at $979, about 25% less than the original $1,299.99.

The Re-Newed programme lets buyers add Samsung Care+ coverage against accidental damage and mechanical failures. The context explains the move: the memory shortage driven by AI demand is pushing up prices of new phones across all segments, and a manufacturer-refurbished flagship becomes a more affordable option.

Impact on the Italian market

In Italy the picture is different: on Amazon, new or refurbished Galaxy S25 units are sold by other sellers, and the 12/256 GB Galaxy S25 is on offer at 549 euros, with five and a half years of software updates still guaranteed. The US launch does not yet reach our market.
