With the Next-Gen update released on October 22, 4A Games added support for NVIDIA's DLSS 5 Neural Rendering to Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux. The feature is missing from the official patch notes, which only mention generic "DLSS Support". Early users found a DLSS-NR (Neural Rendering) option in the graphics settings and a DLL matching the version used in NBA 2K27.
The effect is concentrated on characters. In comparison screenshots published by DSO Gaming, faces look clearly better with DLSS 5 enabled, with more convincing skin and detail. The video by Brazilian creator EZ confirms the improvement on faces, while environment changes are subtle enough to require still images to notice. The developer may have applied the neural rendering selectively, since the SDK lets creators choose which objects benefit.
The performance cost is real. According to TweakTown's tests on a GeForce RTX 5090, the game stays above 120 FPS with DLSS 5 and the Quality preset, but the drop compared with standard mode is significant. Power draw on the Founders Edition reached 575 W. For two games from 2033 and 2014, that matters less, since both already run at very high frame rates.
The news arrives ahead of the integrations NVIDIA announced: Hogwarts Legacy gets support on November 5, followed by Where Winds Meet at the end of the month. Nothing is confirmed for Metro 2039, due on February 4, 2027; the available preview did not include neural rendering, but the feature could still be added at launch.
