Tesla has updated its app with a layout designed for large screens, native to iPad, iPhone Duo and Android tablets and foldables. Until now iPad users ran the iPhone version, which was not designed for the bigger display.

The new screen splits into two columns: navigation and controls on the left, a larger view of the car or home on the right. The vehicle view offers climate, charging and security, alongside a large rendering of the car and shortcuts for vehicle controls. The home energy view shows power flowing between solar panels, a Powerwall, the home and the grid.

Announcing the update on October 21 with screenshots, Tesla designer Alex Guichet said the release is rolling out for iPad, iPhone Duo and Android tablets. According to teslanorth.com, the rollout may take a week or two.

Tesla's design team reworked several views to use the extra space, with further refinements planned for future releases. The update arrives just before the iPhone Duo's launch on Friday, October 23, and follows Apple's rules for foldable apps: unoptimized apps appear with black borders, while apps built with the iOS 27.1 SDK or later resize to fill the inner display.

Version 4.62.0 of the Tesla app is now available on the App Store for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
