The Tomb Raider franchise turns 30, and Aspyr has marked the anniversary with a short video showcasing the games its team has brought back in recent years, including the collections. It is not an announcement of a new game: the video reminds players that the original titles were never lost, only waiting to be rediscovered.
The trailer, published on 24 October, is accompanied by a message recalling the franchise's origins: the first Tomb Raider came out in 1996, and over time Lara Croft has become a name synonymous with adventure around the world. The video evokes the ancient civilizations and secret societies that have defined the series.
The video arrives alongside a week of discounts. According to Nintendo Life, Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is 10% off its normal price, and the same discount applies to the trilogy collection. Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and Rise of the Tomb Raider are also on sale, as are Aspyr's retro titles. The discount details come from a single source and should be read as such.
The timing links to news from the previous week: the third entry in the Survivor trilogy arrived on Switch 2 with a surprise launch, as GoNintendo reported on 23 October. Switch 2 owners can now play the entire Survivor Trilogy.
What comes next
The series' future points to February 2027. Crystal Dynamics, Flying Wild Hog and Amazon Game Studios will bring Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a reimagining of the original game, to Switch 2 and other platforms. Crystal Dynamics is also working on a brand-new entry, due in 2028.
