Gemini is turning into an interactive encyclopedia. Google has added to the app a library of "immersive explorations", visual paths that let users explore a topic layer by layer, from microscopic systems to deep space.
Access is through the Gemini student hub, by clicking "Try immersive explorations". The library currently holds twenty topics across categories such as Civilizations, Energy, Engineering, Medicine, Geology, Oceans and Spaceflight. Each scene unfolds into interactive nodes with guided explanations: tapping a layer digs deeper, moving from planetary scales down to molecules.

Google cites examples such as tracing Silk Road trade routes, looking inside a jet engine or studying the physics of lightning. Google also says these explorations will soon be accessible directly in a chat conversation with Gemini.
The scope is narrow. Explorations are limited to the twenty topics in the library, and users cannot create custom ones on subjects they choose. Google has not said whether it plans to allow that. For now, the feature looks more like an interactive encyclopedia than a study tool.

The feature is in beta and available now on mobile and web for all users, in English, Indonesian, Hindi, Brazilian Portuguese, French and Simplified Chinese. For Workspace accounts it is available on the Education Fundamentals, Standard and Plus plans; users with personal Google accounts can access it directly.
The launch fits Google's push toward assisted study, following the student hub introduced in the summer with study notebooks, flashcards and quizzes, and its extension to school accounts. The Gemini Student Hub was launched in August in the USA with study notebooks, quizzes, and a free year of AI Pro for university students.
