XREAL Aura arrives in mid-November as the first smart glasses running the Android XR platform, and buyers who preorder now save $200 off list price. According to XREAL, which unveiled the price and date on stage at Google's Android Developer Summit, preorders start today, October 28.
The glasses are in effect a lightweight alternative to VR headsets: they weigh 95 grams, against roughly 500 grams for a traditional headset, because the battery and the Snapdragon Reality Elite chip sit in a compute puck about the size of a phone. The puck connects to the glasses via USB-C and has a generous trackpad on the front and a detachable belt clip on the back.

On the technical side, the display is a 1200p Sony micro-OLED at 120Hz, with prism lenses offering a 70-degree field of view and adjustable electrochromic dimming. Tracking is 6DoF, with support for hand tracking and controllers. TÜV Rheinland certifies the visual comfort, covering blue-light control and flicker-free operation. The glasses also include Bose speakers and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.
The lineup has two versions. The first costs $1,279, or $1,099 under a limited-time offer through December 2026. The second costs $1,499, or $1,299 under the same offer. Both come in standard and large sizes with a carrying case that holds the glasses, puck and cable. The cable is user-replaceable and uses a standard USB-C connector.
Aura will initially sell in the United States, Canada, Japan and South Korea, with a broader rollout in 2027. The launch comes with around 150 experiences built for the format, including titles tied to Project Hail Mary, the NBA and Fallout. XREAL has also presented, together with GameSir, a dedicated controller with a Gemini button that gives direct access to the assistant, and a wireless keyboard for multi-window work. The device also supports wired mirroring of a laptop or console into the puck.

In the smart glasses market, Aura is the first product on Android XR. Samsung is preparing a display-free model for November, as AlexTech has already reported, while Meta is betting on its VR Glasses for 2027, with a similar external puck approach that moves the battery and computing away from the head.
The next step is delivery in mid-November, with orders already open.
